AI teammates that write briefs, draft blogs & keep projects on track with Marquis Murray
AI workflows from executives that shrink weeks of work into minutes.
The shift
Leaders are moving from manual planning and status chasing to agentic systems that plan, build, and report automatically. In this episode, Marquis Murray shows how a central AI interface, Claude with MCP, connects to tools like Asana, then teammates in Asana execute the work with humans in the loop.
This New Way delivers step by step playbooks from operators who are already doing this at work.
Episode summary
Marquis, an Asana expert and agency founder, demonstrates how he plans projects in Claude, generates fully structured Asana projects, then uses Asana AI teammates for triage, briefs, and first draft content. He also shows automated executive status reports exported to polished PDFs.
AI tools mentioned:
Claude: (MCP), planning, building projects, reporting
Asana: AI teammates, rules, forms, approvals
Fellow.ai: AI meeting notes, action item extraction, leadership reviews
Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar: connectors for context and scheduling
HubSpot or Salesforce: for contact lists and campaign audiences
Tutorial 1: Build an Asana project from Claude using MCP
Busy execs should not be hand typing tasks. Use Claude to think with you, then create the project in Asana.
Connect Claude to Asana with MCP
In Claude, enable Connectors and add Asana.
Grant access to the correct Workspace and Team. Choose Allow always for frequently used scopes.
Create a reusable Claude Project
Start a new Claude Project titled “Project Builder.”
Upload context you will reuse: discovery call transcript from Fellow, a sample brief, naming rules, date conventions.
Give Claude precise build instructions
Example prompt: “We are running a Customer Appreciation Event. Build an Asana project in the Surface Workspace, Surface Demo Space team. Create phases, tasks, owners, and dates. Suggest custom fields for Priority and Team Function.”
Approve the tool actions
Claude will confirm the Workspace and Team, then create the project shell.
Approve any permission prompts to list users, create tasks, and set fields.
Finalize structure inside Asana
Add Sections if needed.
If custom fields were only suggested, create them in Asana, then bulk assign values.
Spot check assignees and due dates.
Pro tips:
Save this as a Claude Project so every new initiative starts with the same brain.
Pull contacts from HubSpot or Google Drive via Claude, then tag owners directly in Asana tasks.
Tutorial 2: Auto triage requests and draft content with Asana AI teammates
Let Asana’s AI teammates enforce hygiene, generate drafts, and route for approval.
Create an intake project and form
Build a “Marketing Campaign Intake” project.
Add a form with title, due date, audience, deliverables, channels, links, and timing.
Add a triage rule with AI
In Asana Rules, choose Create with AI.
Trigger: When a new task is created or moved to “Intake.”
Action: Use AI to check for missing info, comment with a friendly checklist, and create a subtask assigned to the requester to supply details.
Auto rename tasks to your standard
Rule action: Set task title using AI.
Prompt example: “Rename using this pattern: [Program] [Deliverables] [Market] [Timing].”
Generate a creative brief automatically
Trigger: When task moves to “Brief Creation.”
Action: Use AI to write a one page brief in the description, include goals, success metrics, key messages, channels, KPIs, and dependencies.
Draft content with human in the loop
Trigger: When task moves to “Draft Creation.”
Actions:
Create subtask “Draft email” with AI generated copy.
Create subtask “Draft blog post” with AI generated outline and body.
Create approval subtasks assigned to a human editor.Set publishing subtasks dependent on approvals.
Auto status updates for leadership
From Claude, pull tasks and metrics from the Asana project and generate a polished status PDF with bar charts, progress, and milestone callouts.
Pro tips:
Add brand guidelines and voice rules as attached files that the rule references.
Use a lighter model for rename and triage, reserve your highest quality model for content drafts.
Set dependencies so nothing publishes until approvals are complete.
Why this matters:
Playbooks like these replace status meetings, manual list making, and content bottlenecks with agentic workflows your team can trust.
